My Family
My name is Shannon Young, and I am pleased to be your child's 4th-grade / 5th-grade teacher this 2022-2023 school year.
I was born and raised in Sacramento and did my undergraduate work at California State University, Chico, graduating in 1997. After graduation, I moved to San Francisco and started working for Sprint PCS before they launched their digital cell phone service. I spent my entire career with Sprint working in sales and business marketing. I realized my passion for teaching early in my career but never left Sprint. In 2000, I married my high school sweetheart, Kevin.
In 2004, our son Jake was born, and I left my job with Sprint to be home with Jake full-time. Three years later, our daughter Eliza was born. I decided to continue pursuing my teaching goal and returned to school to get my Master's Degree in Elementary Education and California Teaching Credential. I graduated at the top of my class and was awarded membership in the academic honor society, Pi Lamba Theta. In 2021, I earned my Administrative Credential through the Sacramento County Office of Education's Leadership Institute.
My son is a freshman at St. Mary's College of California in Moraga, pursuing a degree in data science. My daughter is a sophomore in high school and loves reading, crocheting, and performing.
My passion for children and education drives me every single day. I believe in being a lifelong learner, so I can continue bringing the best to my students daily.
